General Information
Homework
At the beginning of each month a homework menu will come home. Students should read 10 minutes each night. Along with that they can complete items off the homework menu over the course of the month. If they complete five squares that are in a row they can turn it in at the end of the month and receive a prize.
The homework menus have a variety of activities including, writing, math, word study, reading, stem challenges, art, and family activities. This modified homework gives students some practice while still allowing them to have fun after school and spend time with friends and family.
Snack
Snack and milk break will be in the morning. I have asked students to bring a healthy snack to share with the class. When snack are running low a note will be sent home to everyone in the class. If you are able to donate an additional snack for the class, that would be greatly appreciated. More information about this will come throughout the year.
Birthdays
Children like to celebrate their special day and we like to celebrate with them! We are trying to promote healthy eating habits at school, so please consider healthy options. If a child does have a birthday party, I ask that invitations be mailed instead of coming to school, unless the entire class is being invited.
Supplies
Each student will have their own folders and crayon box with crayons and scissors, but the rest of your child’s supplies will be community supplies. Community supplies are shared supplies for all students in the classroom to use.
Behavior
I believe that school should be a safe and caring environment where students feel comfortable learning and creating friendships. I expect the students to be responsible, respectful, safe, and ready to learn each day. I use logical consequences for misbehavior and have behavior meetings with the students as needed. If there is a concern I will communicate it with you and we can work together to try and help your child feel successful in the classroom. I do not send home monthly behavior charts because I do not use a clip chart. If you have any questions about behavior you can contact me at any time.
